The Super NES
Arguably the most successul and loved system ever, the SNES rode a wave of popularity stemming from the NES and kept it up with a number of quality and classic games. From the Final Fantasies that really put that series on the map in the states to Contra III, Super Ghouls n' Ghosts, Actraiser, and the Mega Man X series, not to mention the excellent first party Mario titles, Super Metroid, Zelda: A Link to the Past, and the list can go on and on.
Unfortunately, the age of the system is such that the colors used in games and the size of the graphics are limited. On the upside, if 80x80 avatars are just too big for you, this might be the system to browse. Like the Playstation section, this will grow slowly but not because I don't have access to games, but quite the opposite--there are a lot of SNES games to work through looking for avatars, and some of them, such as Ogre Battle, take quite some time to work through...
All of the images contained within this section were captured through the use of emulation. All of images here were achieved through playing the game and capturing the image in my SNES emulator of choice, ZSNes. Because of the SNES' native screen resolution, this section contains very few games with avatars at the full size of 80x80.
