The Playstation
Sony's foray into the video game industry wasn't expected to make them the top dog and beat out Nintendo and Sega for market share, but life is funny sometimes. The Playstation--commonly called PSX--fielded revolutionary 3D graphics for the home market and was the first truly successful home CD-based system. And while the system has difficulty handling some Neo-Geo games like Metal Slug X, it's still got sprite power when needed.
One area where the PSX has no competition from the Arcade or Neo-Geo is in the area of role-playing games, and it has them aplenty. This is the foundation for many a character design and avatar. Unfortunately, the lengthy nature of games on the system (even non-RPGs) can make gathering from a game tedious, and the CD-based storage of the system limits avatar gathering to games I happen to own. Overall, this will be the slowest-growing section of the site.
All of the images contained within this section were captured through the use of emulation. All of images here were achieved through playing the game and capturing the image in my Playstation emulator of choice, ePSXe. Because of the sizing in many games, the Playstation contains far more avatars of sizes less than 80x80 than the Arcade or Neo-Geo sections.
